This site began in the fall of 2004 as a way of getting beyond the usual superficial discussions in the media about the history of Minnesota, “the 32d state.” During the first few years the site dealt primarily with Native American issues, including burial mounds and the area of Bdote–the center point in the history and belief system of the Dakota people and the place where Fort Snelling was built.
